Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge

Amy Fraser

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you.  The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*.  Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping!

Well it seems a little late to wish everyone a happy new year, but this is my first blog post of the new year and our first sketch challenge of the new year! Besides it is still January for 2 more days, so:

 HAPPY NEW YEAR!

How is your 2016 going? Have you made any new years resolutions? Have any of them stuck around long enough to make it this far into the year? I have to admit that I have already failed a number of new years resolutions but I have another 11 months to work on them so I'm not giving up yet!

Lets get back to the important task of the day

Here is this week's sketch:

This lovely sketch was created by the equally lovely Cat. She isn't taking part in this week's challenge but you can find her inspirational blog here and I'm looking forward to having her back in the challenge soon!

Now you may have looked at todays sketch and thought exactly the same thing as me...

Unfortunately, I didn't have anyone to make a London underground themed card for so I will have to save that for another time! The words in the above picture are also apt I think. Mind The Gap... it's been so long since I posted or we had our Sketch challenge! Christmas and New year is such a hectic time for everyone and I think even more so for crafters! But we are back and really excited to be sharing some great sketches this year.

So here is my take on the sketch:

I've used the wonderful new stamp set Birthday Blooms to make this card. I love the little heart border stamp, which I used here to make a background page. I used some of our current In-Colours to make the lines -Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon - along with Marina Mist from the Subtle collection.

I mounted the background page on Watermelon Wonder cardstock and then stamped the birthday message from the set on a piece of Whisper White before punching it out with the 21/2" punch. No card is complete without some sparkle and so I finished it off with some silver 1/8" metallic ribbon.

In the next few weeks I will be showcasing some of the amazing new product available in the new Spring/Summer catalogue so make sure to come back to catch up on it all! But for now please keep hopping forward to Sam's blog or go backwards to Toni's! Thanks for stopping by today and here's to a great 2016!
